My Samsung Plasma works when I use my Roku but not when I watch from cable box. I checked cable cable box etc, its definitly the TV. Any ideas and is this an easy fix...
I had the same issue with my Samsung Plasma not wanting to work with our Blu Ray player. The first thing I would try is using the same HDMI port as the device that worked so you can rule out the port. If the cable doesn't work from the HDMI port that worked for the Roku, it may still be the Tv. There is something in the HDMI port on the Samsung that looks for something feeding it and if there isn't a signal on that HDMI port when that TV turns on it ignores it sometimes. Look inside of the Tv setting for something called Anynet+, that is the feature that lets your device turn on the TV using the HDMI port. I would turn that Anynet+ on or off and play with it to see if that would resolve your issue.
I use HDMI. It has 2 ports. The ROKU works on either port but not TV. I moved this TV to another room and the cable does not work either. I have a different Samsung in that room which works fine with the cable input into the HDMI. Doesnt make sense to me.....
GOJONEEDED..I went into the setup like you suggested and reinitialized the HMDI port without any luck.....thanks for the sugggestion
It may help to know that HDMI and Display port digital standards demand that the two devices communicate and form an encrypted link with each other before video signals will activate. The handshaking phase of this communication must pass or no signal will pass. Cable quality must be met as well as the physical connector on the TV ...get some electronics cleaner and make sure the tv HDMI socket doesent have the kids PBJ jammed in there. as well as swap cables. you should be able to isolate the problem by swapping things around.
