Greetings- Years ago I had several android based Samsung phones. Got tired of all the bloat ware that I could not get rid of. Went to Apple and was happy. With their prices so high, I was thinking to go back to Samsung or other android phones. Are they still loaded with unremovable bloat ware?

Oneplus 12 (Chinese if that matters) Still Qualcomm chip + Sony Camera, and stockish Android.
Best "budget" flagship deal out there if you ask me.

Got a base samsung recently. After a promo from Cricket is was almost "free of charge". I do 30 bucks a month pay as you go with automatic payment setup.
returning to your question, Most of the apps are uninstall-able, a few that may not be are unintrusive as you can "disable" them and also have the option to remove various permissions in: settings/app if you wish.
Everything is so customizable it is dizzying.

@willbur, what phone service provider/carrier are you currently on?
Pixel phones are refreshingly free of all bloatware and receive updates quicker than Samsung phones.
Same $699 deal on the Pixel 8 Pro during Amazon Prime Days.

. They wanna sell you google one cloud storage.Not necessarily a bad thing though.
Pixel 8 or Pixel 8a for sure better priced if smaller size is okay.

I've had Samsung phones on Verizon for years and really didn't notice any bloatware. If there were games and things that I didn't use, I could delete them.
Now a friend of mine has a subsidized Samsung brand phone from WalMart (pre-paid) and that thing is loaded with stuff. Same goes for another Samsung branded phone through Spectrum (Comcast). On top of the advertisements, which are everywhere as pop ups, even on the home screen, they also sell your phone number! So sales calls become incessant.
You can't sell a phone with unlimited data/text/talk for $29.95/mo without selling ad space or your number.
Google is just about as bad now with their pop-ups.
I'd say most bloatware is carrier installed.

Samsung still has their own app store with everything that entails.

Not all are really bad though.
Pixel is king of the hill, only negative is slow charging speed and possibly the Tensor chip in some circumstances.

That's a different story. You can choose to install those if you wish. I'm talking about apps that come with the phone that hide their location or are uninstallable.
Most of that list that is linked is NOT bloatware. A good portion of it is just system files needed to run the phone.
People probably think it's bloatware because Android allows you to see system files. My guess is those are all hidden on an Apple phone.
Guess it depends on who is defining "bloatware".

with t-mob. Ready to switch to USMob bc of "no price increase forever" by the "Uncarrier". Always liked Pixel bc android is native and longer upgrade cycles than the others, particularly Samsung
alot of the bloatware was built into the samsung OS and not removable. Add-on bloats were easy to remove. Maybe it's different now and that's why I'm asking
Seven years security updates on newer Samsung S-series, Same as G. Pixel.
Five years on Oneplus 12. Same with Samsung A55 for example.
Realistically will you keep the same phone for five years without replacing the battery?

I think samsung is 2 or 3 and slow to release. Apple is immediate. My iphone batt is 92% after 4 (5 years?). Got an employer phone and don't use my iphone as part of "work" equipment
