Brother has thrown away a chainsaw which has busted up chain blades.
Iv salvaged the motor which works fine and removed the chain blade from it.
What can this engine be used for? Is it for chainsaw only or can it do other things too?
Leaf vacuum blower and hedge trimmer are things id like but dont know if this can be repurposed into anything other than a chainsaw.
37cc motor which does run very well and has very little hours on it.

I burn wood for primary heat in winter and have many chainsaws. I screw up once in a while and bend a bar (chain blade) or they simply wear out (they're halfway worn when you see one upside down).

Just buy a new bar and chain for it. Look up the saw on the net to see what bar and chain you need to buy.

This.
The best purpose for that motor is a chainsaw.
Get a new bar and chain and go cut some wood.

If you are inclined to tinker with impractical things, check out YouTube: "chainsaw hacks".

Same Zaedock - new bar and chain and its good to go as a chainsaw again... The bar and chain are replaceable for a reason - they live a tough life...

I dont have any use for an actual chainsaw, at the moment my little kid plays with the motor he likes revving it up and pretends its a car (supervised of course). Lol

I remember as a kid....60 years ago, a father and son down the street had McCulloch 2 stroke chainsaw motors on a couple of go karts. The father had 2 of those motors on his cart and would race them at a local go cart track. They were fast and stuck to the track like glue. Cart racing was very popular in the 50’s and 60’s. Might be a nice father and son project, depending on his age.

Did it do this once or does it have a habit of breaking blades/bars?

Chain didnt break it kept getting loose and falling off. These things are so cheap its not worth brothers time to repair it. New one works out to be 70 dollars.

You can install it on a go-cart.

If you don't use or need a chain saw, it's basically useless then. It is not cost effective to retrofit it for other uses.

Kids been playing with it today. He just likes the sound of it revving up and down lol.

McCulloch made cart specific engines Not chainsaw They were fast for the day.

A Hodaka ace 100 engine hooked up to shift was scary fast.

In that case, the motor has been repurposed as your kid's toy! As others suggested, building a go cart (or similar) will be a great father/son project as he gets older and gains interest in building stuff.
