Salt Water and Lithium Batteries

EVs will need the batteries replaced in 100k miles more than likely. It's noting for ICE engines to last two or three times that. It's always the body that rust away for me.

There are some high mileage Teslas that still have decent capacity left after 300,000 miles. But the thing would be to keep the max charge level low. Not sure with the LiFePO4 batteries though.

On days we weren't on our boat. I used to go to the huge Wantagh park boat ramp with my girlfriend on a busy day for entertainment as people launched and pulled boats out of the water. Saw dunked vehicles every once in a while too.
Yes, it can be very entertaining. If my brother was at the ramp with his truck he has offered to help people from time to time he saw having a hard time, or using a vehicle that was not up to the task. Low tide was always the best time for a screw up. A few people weren't so nice when he offered to help, so watching them dunk their car was sort of a twisted form of entertainment.

Tesla batteries are more likely to last somewhere in the range of 250,000 - 300,000 miles even in hard service (meaning with constant Supercharging, for example as an airport limousine service).

But your post leads to a really good idea. Eastern cars do rot out in 10 or so years irrespective of mileage. We could salvage the batteries from eastern cars and use them as replacements when our batteries pack it in at 250,000 miles. That many miles will take me the better part of 25 years (though if I'm still around by then I might prefer a new car instead of a replacement battery).

It would likely depend on the battery chemistry and depth of charge/discharge. I could imaging setting up a taxi for 80% charge and keeping the battery from getting below 20% in order to maintain battery capacity as long as possible.

While Supercharging is clearly harder on the battery, that's still within Tesla's published operating conditions.

The reports of high mileage cars have come from people making several long distance airport runs a day - where they charge high (100% or close to it) using a Supercharger, and then run low. In other words the worst charging practices anyone could devise.

Yes the batteries eventually failed (not surprising) but the cars themselves were still in very good condition. These were mostly Model Ss which are known to be more troublesome than Model 3s but even then the repair costs were not excessive. They needed things like outside door handle replacement (a known trouble spot on a Model S), power window lifts, etc.

LMAO! Yeah. In all my years of boating etc..... I really wish I had filmed just some of the "genius at work" INCIDENTS I was a witness to!
Some really wild/funny almost unbelievable stunts. Best one of all time was the guy (most certain a pure drunk) with girlfriend or wife.
After being warned by a few folks of the launch drop off on one side. What does he do? Of course he unhooks and at least installs his
plug. He then allows the wife to stand in the truck bed behind the cab as he "fast/speed launches?" Guess he thought he could speed
over the bad ramp! LoL. Of course he tries to reverse it FAST and his trailer wheel which has now dropped off catches and yanks the truck to a stop tossing poor little miss about 100lb? looking wife over the cab onto the hood and tears the axle almost completley off the trailer as it drops to the pavement. After seeing the truck come to a halt and no visible injuries.... the end to immense laughter of all around and the on duty security guard approach to help them I was glad my boat was already out the water and tied down so I went home to avoid seeing what ever part two of the comedy side show ended up being.
