Safe To Mailorder PUP @ Amazon/Walmart?

Ordered a 5 quart jug of PUP 5W30 from WalMart a couple weeks ago and it arrived in perfect shape.

I would also order it from Amazon.com as long as it was "ships and sold" by Amazon. but the Walmart.com price is lower.
Sadly, even that isn't an assurance of getting a "good" item (though counterfeit oil really doesn't seem to be a thing). The way Amazon works is they can sell an item, but other resellers can sell the exact same item. These are the ones that show up as "Sold by XXX, shipped by Amazon" and the problem is, ALL of those items, whether they're from Amazon or a half-dozen resellers, is they get put in the same bin at Amazon warehouses. In theory, a reseller could put counterfeit, used, re-packaged, etc items in there.

Our son bought NGK plugs from Amazon a while back and his car developed multiple misfires that were very erratic. We told the mechanic the plugs were new and recently replaced so, right or wrong, he checked other things like valve clearance, fuel injectors, etc. I remembered the price was pretty low, they came in Honda spark plug boxes, and the seller vanished from Amazon.... When I saw that, I told him to go to O'Reilly's and order (6) new plugs. Put them in and the car has been fine.

With all the talk about fake sparkplugs, etc., is it safe to order Pennzoil Ultra Platinum through Amazon or Walmart. Is one safer? What to watch out for?

I want to try it out of curiosity to see if improves the very slight oil burning my 2013 2.4L Patriot engine just started at 100,000 miles.
Safe through Walmart for sure.
Amazon is 3rd parties so u take your risks.

Safe through Walmart for sure.
Walmart has 3rd-party sellers on their website / market as well. I don't think Walmart offers the same "Fulfilled by Walmart" option that Amazon does though so if not, yes, that would make it safer. Just make sure the seller is Walmart and not another company.

I should have asked more clearly to include other reasons beyond "fake", such as leaks, tampering, etc..

Thank you for the replies.

EDIT: Added the "other reasons" because some pointed out that "fake" oil would be somewhat over-the-top. Heck, some people here report getting used oil in their brick & mortar purchase, so anything is possible.

In my locale, both Amazon and Walmart show "shipped and sold by". Walmart will only ship to me, not store pick-up. Both are same price.

I can not imagine receiving a Amazon package or WalMart that would not be obvious there is a leak. How many hands the product would go through.

The package handlers get "graded" by the speediness of the delivery, not whether they started thinking outside the box and re-directed an order. (which also creates more work for them)

Speaking of Walmart, Walmart.com still has Castrol Edge 5W-30LL on rollback for under $22. It is ACEA C3 and has VW 504 00 approval which is demonstrated performance. It comes in and out of availability but I just bought some recently and I use it in all of my vehicles. I doubt it will be available at that price for very long.

The Edge LL is still there today at $21.62. Inflation hasn't hit it yet.
Walmart online w/home delivery is where I get all the Edge LL and C3 for my cars.

That has been a serious problem in the past, Amazon is actively addressing these issues and it should be getting rarer by the day. https://pod01.us-east-1.mpes.mtx.pr...k-orders/c622bfe1-93d4-45b8-8a6e-5dd172957eeb
