the best part is the splitting of the 20wt it was way too wide a viscosity range before.

SAE 16 viscosity and the new changes to J300 (and GF-6) have been covered ad nauseum here and elsewhere; documents abound. It's not an AFD prank.

Hmmmm....I guess I got pranked by a non-prank.

The motor oil portion of this site no longer interests me, so I wasn't aware of the change.

Which is exactly why they went with 16, 12, 8, etc... instead of 15, 20, 10...

Too easy to confuse with existing viscosities. I can see someone making the mistake of putting 15 weight oil in a diesel that takes 15w40 (especially if people use the erroneous "15W" designation).

I, for one, welcome our new -4w12 overlords.

Yeah but now all the chest beaters that were exclaiming how a 20W stayed in grade better than the heavier weights, may just have a rude awaking...
