I have an older Satah S470 Buck tractor.

I am replacing the front diff oil/ front wheel assist.

The manual recommends a SAE 80 or SAE 90 oil.

Would there be any issue using a multigrade SAE 80W-90?

In my opinion you would be fine with a multigrade gear oil. It would actually be an upgrade in my opinion. You could even go 75w/90.

I looked up the Mobil Multilube GX specified in that chart and it was made with solvent refunded base stocks, so it is a low quality Group I type oil compared to modern lubes. A modern 80w-90 will be greatly superior.

Are you dealing with any “yellow” metals in there?

If so, go for a GL4 80w90 product.

No, the gear lubes specified in the manual are EP or Extreme Pressure type lubes so no yellow metals would be present. GL-5 is the spec to go with.

I understand that. The old Mobilube GX series is a GL4 product according to the Mobil bible.

Thus… my question.

What are the specs on the GP80 GP90?
Or the Shell Super Deluxe EP product?

I don’t have the shell super delux ep specs.

But the Mobil Gx80:
GL4
85cst @ 40c
-33c cold flow point.

Group 1 base oil. Nothing real special. Just old school gear oil.
