i just went to a training class for my work on selling a Run Rite Fuel System Cleaning serivce thing. they used my car (1998 Ford Mustang GT 4.6L) as a test car. theres an oil additive, a gas additive, a TB cleaner and a Induction Cleaner that they run through a vacuum port. my car idled a little better and was fine on the 125mile drive home. then yesterday my car started running really bad, misfiring and tossing a random misfire code. i pulled the plugs and they had red electrodes and all the grounds were white/light grey. the plugs are Autolite 764 coppers and only had about 5k miles on them. i run normal CA 91 octane from Shell, Chevron, and Mobil. i used VP racing 91 octane for 1 tank when i ran out of fuel on track at Buttonwillow Raceway. ive checked the plugs before and they have never had the red electrode.
is this something common with these products, i know plugs will turn red with bad additives. i just dont feel comfortable selling these to a customer when its done this to my car.
another thing that bothered me was the TB cleaner they used on my Ford TB that says to not clean. they say its for safe, but ive talked to engineers at SVT and they say that theyve never seen a ford safe TB cleaner.
