RUN FLAT TIRES

The only repair we can do is a plug patch, remove the tire drill it out seal it insert the plug and re balance. Only allowed 1 per tire, and the outer treadblock is 100% not allowed. Doesnt stop people though.

Run flat tires were first made available on Corvette in 1994. I ordered my 1994 Admiral Blue Corvette with every option - including Run Flats. Back then it was the Eagle GSC. They saved me once but I only drove a few miles and they repaired the tire with a patch/plug no different than a regular tire. After those tires wore out, I didn't want to pay the price for run flats so I got the regular GSC's and the ride was better. Today I run Eagle F1 on it.

The Michelin run flats that come on the new Corvettes are much better than the Goodyear run flats of previous generations of the Corvette. People that switch to non run flats of the same exact Michelin tire say they'd be hard pressed to tell the difference in ride quality. So I will stick with run flats on mine, it'll give me peace of mind on long highway trips. I ran both my C5 and C6 Corvette with non run flats, and never got stranded but I was always worried about that happening, so there is no need for me to continue to press my luck.
