I finally took the plunge and used RTS in my 99 Expedition 5.4 2v with 99k.
After noticing the engine had much less cold start up noise on 5w30 than 0w30 i got the feeling i should try something heavier.
The original factory spec was 10w30.
The engine is definitely quieter,my only concern is the north east winter.Anybody had similar experiences with these older Ford modular 2v engines?
I use 0w30 on all the other cars without issue but this thing seems to like heavier oil.
Truck is one owner,religiously maintained,leaks/burns no oil.
The engine always had some slight cold top end noise on lighter oils on 10w30 none,the noise has not worsened over the years.
