Hmmm........

My UOA on RP10W30 in a 1.6 sunny Ex also shows Ca more than 2,000ppm:
http://theoildrop.server101.com/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=001688
UOA done by WearCheck (ALS chemex)
Maybe formula for RP in Singapore is a bit different ?

Hmmm...... not too sure if I wanna do a VOA on the oil.... will just take it that the Ca level is more than 2,000ppm then...

DM, any more UOAs from you?

I think no point doing VOA. The additive metals ppm counts are comparable for different UOAs for RP10W30 coming from SG. So maybe we can conclude that the formula for RP oil sold in SG is slightly different.

I might be doing another UOA in another 4k km. That's when the RP10W30 would have done 10k km in my engine. Would want to see if that's a 'safe' OCI for my engine and driving style.

Have done a search on this forum and seems like even the Ca level is also around 2,000ppm for samples, in other countries as well. Would reckon then that it is universal figures for the RP10W30 then.... Dun think the SG formulation is different....

Looking forward to see your next UOA on the RP10W30..... soon...

Cheers

One thing about the TBN, some of the oil analysis companies get thrown off with ester based synthetic fluids, particularly when you send in a sample which has some of the old oil mixed with the new oil formula. It throws off the calibration of their equipment, at least that's what I've been told on some of my samples. [/QB]

I do find it strange that the TBN is 1.0 for less than 10K km on the oil. Maybe the RP is working on neutralising the last oil too???

I'm using used Nalgene bottles from my lab. Plus that I got a whole roll of parafilm. Now I save on the mail by just dunking the whole bottle without fear of it leaking into an envelope.
