Am I the only one that likes the Royal Purple Filters? Appear to be an M1 with better filter media.

I like them myself, but I cannot find a reason to be spending $15 on an oil filter.
I like them too, bought 3 from Amazon a while back ago. Good, expensive filters. Went back to FrU.
I was thinking about getting some of these or Champ XL filters which are their rough equivalent but it appears that the most recent versions use an E-Core center tube so I will stick with the Fram Titanium or Ultra.
I certainly agree more why would you pay $15 for a $9 filter?
Champ XL filters are not like Royal Purple at all, they are a synthetic/cellulose blend.
I am not supposed to repeat this but M1 has a special unique media and is not necessarily worse than the RP just because it also is a blend. Mobil does do research and testing I would bet.
First fact is from the Champ XL website, second is from motor king who was working at Champ/Fram and made the point quite strongly the M1 is not like any other filter media.
RP are great except for me not fond of the louvers they have. Amsoil and TRD may be the same as RP. Someone could call them on the phone and see.

Even some Fram Ultras now have the e-core type center tube. Apparently this design is not problematic any more, and I suspect most filters will eventually be based on this design unless the application requires metal.
Please provide evidence of a Fram Ultra using an E-Core center tube, thank you.
Probably the only Ultras that have an eCore center tube are cartridge style filters. I've never see any spin-on Ultra with an eCore center tube. If anyone does have obe post up some photos.
The XG8765 (cartridge style for GM 3.6 V6) has plastic ends and center.
It is possible that the only Fram Ultras with plastic centers are cartridge style. I was referring to the XG8765 which had a metal tube a few years ago but is now plastic. Interestingly the tough guard and extra guard versions of that filter have metal end caps and plastic center, whereas the ultra has plastic ends and center.
