Just noticed this on the RP site.

Quote:

Royal Purple HPS Series motor oil is specifically formulated to maximize performance and meet the demands of high performance and modified engines. It is fortified with a high level of zinc/phosphorus anti-wear additive and Royal Purple’s proprietary Synerlec® additive technology. This unique blend enables HPS to outperform leading synthetics and conventional lubricants.

Seems they are filling the gap between their API approved and XPR lines.

On a side note, their products have oddly shown up at a local regional medium box store. I will probably e-mail the purchasing dept and ask what prompted this.

Sorry if this has been posted before.

yea, the only caveat of the "Google Search" using site:bobistheoilguy.com is you will yield MANY "double posts" - due to the way this forum "threads" posts, and how the google spiders "crawl" the site....:) It's hard to explain, but you'll know what I mean after you use it a few times, some results will turn up the "long view" (all posts of the thread on 1 page), and some results will display as "threaded" and you have to click the "next reply" button at the bottom of the forum to see the next reply to the said post, etc

But yea, I've noticed their change in marketing, my local WM sells the Royal Purple line of Motor Oil, not the "XPR" or "HPS" though....only the "SL" (or was it SM? I can't remember, but wanna say it was SL) rated motor oil....which isn't quite "up to date" but don't bother me as it'll work for my current application

But at $8.-9.50 per quart, the product doesn't move too much, compared to the Mobil 1 and PP...it sits kind of stale/dusty next to the likes of Castrol Edge/Titanium/Syntec...heh
