Rough shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear - 1994 Astro

My astro has developed a rough shift from 2nd to 3rd gear - it happens at both up and down shifts. Other gears are still smooth.

Easing back the gas pedal just when it is about to shift will eliminate the rough shifting, but that off course is not always possible, especially going up hill.

Transmission is filled with MaxLife high mileage and a bottle of LubeGuard red.

Differential is recently rebuilt and u-joints are new.

Any ideas what is going on with my transmission? It is a high mileage vehicle, but other than the rough shift, it is running strong and smooth.

You have still quite a bit of mileage to get out of it if you want, but if it was me I would start with a pan drop and filter change. If you have already done that, you might want to start saving for a new transmission/car in the next 20k.
