I've searched and can't find a clear answer to this. I just bought a 3-gal case of T6 on Amazon and when checking the delivery dates I only then noticed the 'new' multi-Vehicle version of it. I went and checked the last bottle of it I bought from Walmart a while back and it's the same non-multi-vehicle T6, so I now know I've been using non-fleet oil for quite a while now in my '05 SAAB 9-5; 1000 miles per week highway and 5000mi oil and filter changes.

Basically for about 3+ years I've been using whichever T6 they sold there. Seems to be running fine, but if I'm reading the old posts I can find here related to this it seems like I shouldn't be using it due to high phosphorus levels potentially affecting my catalytic converter? How much of a risk is this?

Also, what to do with this oil now? Should I just use it up in my SAAB over the next few changes? Run it in my '10 Ridgeline (~6Kchanges)? Or, just return it?

I appreciate your thoughts on this!

I have used both high(er) phosphorus Mobil Delvac 1 ESP 5w-40 and Rotella T6 Multi-Vehicle 5w-30 (low phosphorus) in my G37, both for extended periods of time. An ordinary HDEO with elevated phosphorus isn't generally a concern unless you're really burning oil. I would gather most Saabs would be using an A3/B4 type lubricant in the first place, so none of this is a concern.

Thanks! I guess I'll run through the T6 in the 9-5 and switch over to the DELO 400 XLE. They sell it there anyway and that's what I used in the past.

Yep, you'll be fine! You might even find the Rotella Multi-Vehicle at a very attractive price when you're done with what you have in stock. In this city, Chevron products (both PCMOs and HDEOs) are most readily available at places that serve truckers. Chevron doesn't do their own distribution in this part of Canada. It's through Husky, so it's not quite as simple or well spread as Shell or Mobil.
