Rotella T goes NASCAR

Take a look at this Shell press release. Shell lubricants has signed a product and tech agreement with Robert Yates Racing and will be the sole supplier of lubricants for their NASCAR race cars. The Rotella T logo will be on the driver and team uniforms as well as the cars themselves.

A very interesting move by Shell, since Rotella has always been a HD "truck oil." I just wonder if this is the start of a marketing move to shift the Rotella name into other areas besides trucking.

Methinks there could be quite a difference between the oil in the car and the oil mentioned in the decals.
But then, I tend to be a bit untrusting.

Oh, I have no doubt the oil they supply the race team won't be OTC Rotella. What I find interesting is that they chose Rotella as the brand to "give" the team, when Rotella isn't a "car" oil.

Could it be because Rotella is the only "really" recognizable product name from Shell, not they they don't have other good products. But it seems that other than AVSHELL and Rotella, what other Shell products stand out?

I wish they would introduce the EOP in a fully synthetic and formulated MO.

Well, if I were Shell, I would have used this as an opportunity to move Helix into the North American market. Watch just about any type of road race in Europe, Asia, or Australia and you're going to see Shell Helix banners everywhere, and cars with Helix on them.

MolaKuel: I believe they are experimenting with the EOP product in these two cars, and you are correct about the name being reconized.

G-Man: You won't see any Helix in this country for awhile, if ever. They are working on a product discussed above that will replace the current Pennzoil and Formula Shell synthetics, if they decide to bring it to market.
