Just because a race team hangs an oil company banner behind them, or their stickers on the bike, doesn't mean they are putting that product in the bike.
(modern motocross bikes see the same redlines)
I'd be interested in seeing that. It is HIGHLY unlikely that Alessi would know what the heck was in his bikes at any given time. It is also very unlikely that any factory team would choose to purchase Rotella when they would be given a sponsors product, or that the sponsor would tolerate another product in their place. Say the bike failed during a crucial race, and a lubricant failure was diagnosed. (OK, rare, and probably fantasy, but follow along). The report hits the web, Transworld, Dirt Rider, and Maxima's reputation is questioned? Lechien wouldn't be happy, and a race team isn't going to put themselves in that position. When Michelin could not supply Factory Suzuki with enough of the proper tires for supercross, and the performance of the tires wasn't what was expected, DeCoster immediately notified the press, and switched brands. There was too much risk of bad press otherwise. Besides, Alessi has trouble talking to himself, much less anybody else. Here is just a snippet from an interview attempt....
"Asking Mike Alessi if he wanted to do a video interview resulted in an, "Ask my dad." Checking in with the senior Alessi, we got a, "What are the questions? Anything controversial?" That stance is somewhat understandable, given the occasional turmoil of Mike and Jeff's pro careers to date. But putting limits on the questions that can be asked of Mike (and hovering nearby during interviews) results in bland questions, Mike squirming the whole time, and a boring result for everyone."
This was on KTMTalk.com, in one of the many Rotella oil debate threads. It was actually Tony Alessi that made the Rotella confirmation. He is a member of that site, but not a very active one.
