Hi guys
In oct of 08 I bought a set of winter tires made by a company called Rotalla - the model is the s-100 winter tire.

Just wondering if anyone has ever used a set of these - reason I ask is that they are wearing VERY fast.

So far I have driven a little over 7,000kms and the treads are about 1mm away from the wear bars ?

Normally I get 2-3 winters out of a set of tires.... but I dont think these tires will make it to 10,000kms.

I have e-mailed the company I bought them from many times but I have not gotten any response. It is a canadian company out of B.C.
I tried the internet , to dig up some info , all I could find is that they are made in China-

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated------- how many kms/miles do you guys usually get out of your winter/ice tires.
thanks
niko

Hi nicholas,

I've never heard of that brand of tire before, kind of reminds me of the saying, "you get what you pay for". I use Bridgestone winter tires and I am on my 4th winter with the set I have now and hope to get one more winter out of them. Good luck.

Ya, but they were not that much cheaper than other tires - maybe $30 per tire.
Lesson learned----->:)---- I am a little more upset about the company not doing anything.

We got about 30K miles out of a set of Nokian WR tires, but that included driving on them during hot Texas summers, so that accelerated the wear somewhat. With pure winter driving, they'd probably go up to 40-50K.

I also had a set of Michelin Pilot Alpin on my old A4 - the tires had about 10k miles on them when I sold them, and they looked barely worn at all. Then again, their snow/ice performance left a lot to be desired. I'd rather have tires that actually do the job, even if they don't last as long. I get annoyed by tires that don't perform well but seem to last forever.

Has anyone bought a set of tires that lasted around 10k ?
I think these tires will be bald by 15,000....:)
Which is not the greatest during a snowy canadian winter ?
