He was one of my dad's favorites.

I saw him twice in NZ, once basically off the back of a truck, and once a restaurant show with Bo Diddly. He didn't tour with a band, just used local musicians...they all know how to play Chuck Berry.

First we lost blues harp great James Cotton a few days ago.
Now Chuck Berry.

Really enjoy their music.

Can't say that I will miss them; never knew them personally. Not a slam on them; just hard to miss something I never had in the first place.

However, we can enjoy their music for many years to come, so they will live on for us all!
I heard a quote from Berry later in his life; he stated he just wanted to be remembered.

No problem there Chuck; you were one of the best! And will remember you each time I listen to an oldies channel, or pop in the American Graffiti soundtrack when cruising in the convertible.

I grew up in St. Louis and took my girlfriend to see him at a nightclub in Granite City, Ill.

We were 20 feet from Chuck Berry and here on the dance floor was a mix of both black and white couples and no one was having a problem with any other person or couples.

Maybe we need more Chuck Berry's.

I read today he had a new album in the can that he'd was either working on or had just finished. His first in 38 years (!) I can't wait to hear it, presuming whoever controls its rights elects to release it.

I saw him about 35 years ago. It was a short 45 minute set at the end of an otherwise boring oldies (circa 1950's) groups that were over the hill.

Chuck was not over the hill, even at 55 years of age at that time. The absolute best short set of musical performance I have ever seen.
