I saved a ton of money by living next to my old 2nd grade teacher. That heifer doesn't miss sh*t. And lets see a Ring camera get the back story why the couple across the street got divorced :ROFLMAO:

We have one doorbell camera and two ring flood pros.Even with all the negatives the three worked better then our last houses swan camera system that had cat 6 run everywhere.Went through a 1000’ box to do it and on vacation it worked half of the time. The back yard needed an extender, the garage and front door didn’t but all register on the plug in chime,3rd pic.

So you don't want the bad guys caught using footage from your system which could be beneficial to the Police? Is that what you are saying?
If the police think my cameras might have footage that is helpful they can come talk to me and ask for the footage.

Does privacy mean nothing to you?

Ubiquiti FTW.
UNIFI protect. i have 4 G5 bullets, G4 POE doorbell and a G5 PTZ. all on UPS backup and POE powered. no batteries to worry about other than UPS batteries every 5ish years.

You have credit cards, a cellphone, drive a car, insurance, pay property taxes- you have no privacy. Order a Lexus/ Nexus report on yourself- it's free, then you will see your wasting that part of your brain that worries about privacy.

I’m not a fan of any of that stuff either but that’s a big difference to having my home videos viewed by police without a warrant.

I mean this in the politest manner possible....this statement shows a lack of understanding of how the system is supposed to work. There is likely to be no exigent circumstances post event. Larceny is most probable and the crime/event is in the past tense. Police can put a little effort in and get a warrant or DA can send notice to preserve evidence or subpoena. That is how your rights are protected without barring law enforcement from obtaining hat they claim to need for probable cause.

I had to say likely as an ongoing kidnapping would be an example of an exigent circumstance.

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!! You Sir, have proven my very point with your post. Some will get into the fetal position and claim it's already here so it's ok. Yet they don't look down the road and see what China deals with present day. Social scoring system with a gov't bureaucrat who is the sole determinant. Imagine being the accused and only having a single gov't bureaucrat determining your fate? Our system sure isn't perfect but I have due process and the ability to appeal a decision to multiple tiers of our court system.

We have four cameras plus the doorbell and really like the system. Solar panels on the cameras, and they work great even on cloudy days.

Here are just a few examples of why I don't like easy access to cloud based security camera footage on my property. Let's say I have Ring cameras set up around my house. Let's say I have 90 days worth of footage. Neighbors across the street have a domestic one night and local law enforcement grabs all my stored data without a warrant. They start pouring over all my recorded events and see.

1. I was changing the oil in my car while having a cold Coors light. After I complete the job I jump into my car with beer in hand and move the car to the other side of the driveway. They nail me with driving open intoxicant.
2. I was driving a car with expired tags for a week. I get a ticket for no tags.
3. I caught my son throwing Crab Apples at the house next door and set him straight in front of the house complete with an appropriate spanking. Child protective services now open a case against me.
4. I decide to do install a hot water heater in my house but didn't get the required permits. Officer Steve sees me unload the heater and emails the clip over to his best buddy in the code enforcement dept.
5. I was Goose hunting with my friend John. John doesn't want the Geese he shot So I bring home my limit and his 2 geese. Officer Steve sends the clip to the Game Warden showing me with an over limit of waterfowl. I get cited on multiple fish and wildlife violations, and my shotgun was seized.

These are just a few examples that I could think of in a couple minutes. I could come up with a few dozen more if I wanted to.

Yea. One could play what if with just about anything.. can't we...

Let's debate like adults instead of casting stones of innuendo and vagueness. History is wrought with "unintended consequences" that just happen to lead to increases in control and abuse.
This is as useless debate as " thick vs. thin".....
I'm out. .

CKN feels law enforcement can do whatever because if they’re investigating someone, it must mean he/she did something bad. And since he’s a law abiding citizen, it will never happen to him.

“I’ve got nothing to hide” is the prevailing argument for these types of people.

Two months ago we purchased a home that had a Ring security system. We unplugged the system and put the main "Ring controller" on a shelf.

Wife inquired about using the Ring system. I did some research, and Ring is owned by Amazon. We have Amazon prime, but do not use Alexa. Wife does use SIRI.

Any significant reasons NOT to active the Ring system? I prefer not to use a AMZN subscription product, but this system is already installed.

All 5 are examples of circumstancial evidence none of which would result in any kind of actual charges.
