Hey guys, I'm sorry for the complete helpless newbie question but I know very little about oil. I've got a 94 Prelude with a Jspec H22A swap, and I was thinking of running Amsoil 5w30. I believe honda says to go with 10w30 oils but I figure it's summer in texas and 5w30 is probably fine. Also the recommended interval (at least with my old H23A1) was 7500 miles on conventional oil, which is a little weird, so I always just changed it every 3k. I want to keep this motor in good shape, it came with like 37k on it... what would be a good interval to use when running the amsoil 5w30? thank you guys so much for your patience.

I use Mobil 1 in my Honda but I think Amsoil is just as good. I run 10,000 miles per change but if you like to be conservative 7500 miles should be no problem for that oil.

I would say, dino use 10w30, synthetic use 5w30 or even better 0w-30. Dan

I'd go with the Series 2000, 0w-30, along with an SDF-20 filter and change both every 12,500 miles/6 months. It will work better in this very high rpm application than the garden variety 5w30.

How are these almost new engines shipped in from Japan???
