Only thing is that I use diagnostic software that requires a windows OS.

A few years ago I was given two Dell Inspiron B130's by a neighbor whose kids had used (abused) them. One wouldn't even boot. The other finally booted after about 3.5min or so. Both clogged with pre-teen/teenage girl junk. I wiped the HD, reinstalled XP and turned off everything that wasn't necessary using this guide. Next, I found some cheap RAM on close-out and max'd it out. Ran much better and faster. The other one I use for spare parts though it does now run.
