When reverse bleeding with something like a Phoenix gun, a couple YT warriors say you've gotta lock the brake pedal down while bleeding.

This doesn't entirely track with me, and in reading Phoenix's own instructions I never saw mention of such.

If certain mc's have unique valving, ok.....
but seems to me if your fluid from your reverse bleeder is making it to the reservoir without the pedal depressed, good enough.

I'm perfectly willing to accept that I'm wrong, it would just help to know the reasoning.

For those who reverse bleed, have you ever locked the pedal down?

Remove most of the fluid from the MC but not enough to make it dry, put a couple of turns of blue monster tape on each bleeder screw threads then reinstall leaving one a little loose then connect the reverse bleeder, tighten the bleeder than move on to the next one. There is no need to hold the brake pedal down.
I use this mostly for clutches and motor cycle brakes and pressure bleed most cars that will not easily gravity bleed or when installing new parts requiring the system to be opened.

If your brake pedal is completely up there's a passage to allow fluid (and air?) up into the reservoir. Otherwise it has nowhere to go but to "do work."
