I retired about 3.5 years ago at age 50 and love retirement. I have a defined pension and a Thrift Savings account which I have not touched yet. I have no desire to go back to work and don't plan on it.
I keep busy doing things on the farm, occasionally playing cards with friends, and doing some online automobile diagnostics classes. I work out five days a week to stay in shape.
I have no where close to a million dollars but I'm debt free and I live in the midwest where the cost of living is not too bad.
Losing friends before retirement or soon after and losing my step-dad last year at age 66 to cancer, makes me glad I was able to retire fairly young and enjoy my remaining years because tomorrow is not guaranteed.
