I know some wealthy people that still work and could of retired at 50.

This is very true. I will not be one of them, lol! I do plan on taking a desk job in the next 1-3 years though, which will greatly improve my outlook.

I could see dreaming about work after I have left (in about 25 years that is). I've had some good times there. I lost a set of grandparents almost 15 years ago and just recently they popped up in dream; I could similar things happening for work. Dreams are random, after all. Plus maybe some day I'll be worried about my kid's careers, and maybe that'll trigger a remembrance. Who knows.

Right now I do dream about retiring... usually during the day... and oddly enough, those dreams are most strong Monday morning... Long ago I came up with the dollar figure I'd need to make me retire immediately, like if I won the lotto. Strangely enough, that dollar amount goes down every Monday morning.

I could do it for $1m usd, and would super heavily consider it for $750k.

I figure close to $5M, then I'd have a perpetual fund (diverse portfolio, at least 5% growth, split that 5% nearly in half, 3% back into the fund to hedge inflation, live on 2%, would be nice living I think). Anything less than $3M and I don't could, not with an expected 40 years of life left. Don't forget, I have a wife and the kids would be home for at least 5 more years, plus their college tuition.

Many of my dreams are situated at college (decades ago) where I cannot remember what classroom a particular class is in so I don't go. Then wonder if professor will notice and will I have enough credits and still graduate. I actually think I graduated with slightly more credits than the minimum.
