Resting a hand on the shift lever while driving

With an auto...nothing happens/no issues. Do it all the time. In a manual yes, it can if you put some force on it...believe it can wear out the syncros.

Is it the synchros or shift fork bearings? (For the manual, that is). No issues for an automatic.

Not even truly a real thing in MT. I mean MAYBE if you drive with your arm resting with FORCE in the direction of any gear.
