resetting OLM before it ever came on?

I just purchased my frist veh that has an OLM. 08' Dodge Grand Caravan. I know how to reset it from reading the manual. If I change the oil prior to the OLM alerting me to change the oil do I still do a resent as described in the book by pushing down the gas three times? And will it reset for the fresh oil change?

Yes, although, in some cars if not enough time/miles passed from the last reset, it won't let you reset.

My saab is like that. I just fool it by changing the date, and then it becomes time... Then I set the date back and all is well.

Stupid to have to go through those steps, but it may work for some.

In my 530i it is based on the number of liters of fuel burned. No way to bypass that.

Yes, Chrysler products reset the mileage that way and start over.
