repplacing A/C compressor

The clutch AC bearing went bad on my 93 Suburban (with AC off) and it shreaded the serpentine belt and car began to overheat. I need a new A/C compressor. What else gets replaced, orifice? dryer (accumulator)?

My Mercruiser has 2 normal V belts, one to PS pump and one to alt. Both drive water pump. I like that better than a serpentine belt. But a serp. belt does have some advantages.

I'd replace r/d and do a flush wherever I could, especially if the compressor busted inside...

I'd also want a good vacuum to be pulled and held for 30min+

I replaced just the compressor once, but recommend replacing the dryer too. The problem with not replacing the dryer is you don't know how much oil is in with the freon.

always replace the dryer with a new compressor, the dryers job is to stop any larger particals from getting into the metering device.

It will also absorb non-condensibles. follow the instructions that come with the compressor in regard to the amount of oil to add to the system.

as jhzr2 has mentioned above do pull a vacuum on the system.

Consider only replace what is broken, like the clutch or bearing.
If that is all that is wrong, then only address that specific issue.
