Otero Federal Credit Union offers its repossessed vehicles for sale to consumers. I watch their web-site for vehicles. Watching their web-site, the pattern seems static. Stellantis always leads the list, followed by Nissan. I never see a Toyota or Honda at this site. Also of note, don't recall ever seeing a GM vehicle on their repo list either.

Stellantis- 5
Nissan- 3
Ford- 2
Kia- 1
Volkswagen- 1
Subaru- 1

What has your view been of this? Is it worth it? Those look like fairly clean and new except the 2015 wrx which is 10 years old. I've been looking for a replacement for my neon and cavalier.

The plus is most of these vehicles are zero rust. The risk is a repossessed vehicle likely was not maintained, not treated well, and some of the nameplates are not necessarily poster children for quality/ reliable design.

Me personally, I would work a second job for six months and take the money earned from the second job and spend more to buy a Civic or Corolla.

Supplementally, I am a huge fan for overpaying for vehicles like a Toyota Camry from an estate sale in Phoenix/ Tucson. The vehicles from the estate sales are from a passing of an elderly parent, often one owner, low mileage, and dealer maintained. One just has to make sure the vehicle was sold new in Arizona and not moved from the Upper Midwest to Arizona.

Estate sales are awesome. Folks are dying to give you a great deal!

The list is Ram...Dodge and Chrysler....
A google search stated Stellantis hasn't yet released 2024 US sales results. This is Stellantis 2023 US sales results:
Stellantis sold approximately 1.4 million vehicles in the U.S. in 2023

This is Ford's 2023 US sales results:
In 2023, Ford sold 1,995,912 vehicles in the U.S

The above number does not include 2023 Lincoln sales reported to be 81,818 sold

Reports point to Ford having sold over 600,000 vehicles more than Stellantis in 2023.

I'd be curious how other companies like Tesla, Rivian, and Ineos fair in repossessions vs the major automotive manufacturers.

5 Stellantis, ego machines (Jeeps and RAM), odd value sedans and the illusion of cheaper vehicles
3 Nissan, again, the illusion of value from a company which cyclically flirts with bankruptcy
2 Ford, just gotta have the best selling vehicle for 48 years...even if I don't need one
1 Kia, another flawed value brand
Talk about drawing conclusions about society with limited data...but hey, you are what you drive (Nietzsche)

People that have their vehicles repossessed have often times lived in their vehicles. From what I have seen most repo's are trashed badly then detailed out again to look like new. Some people have a difficult time throwing an empty cup, food bag, or old clothes in the garbage can. Plus some are owned by daily smokers. It's not a car to some, it's a home.

That would coincide with Toyota being one of the longest original owner statistics I've seen. Meaning original Toyota buyers hold onto them for the longest. Gee, I wonder why? lol

Realize that it isn't a list of every car that the CU has repo'd. It is a list of the repossessed cars that remain unsold.

The seeming bias toward Stellantis could be external factors such as there being a Stellantis factory in the city, or the CU has a partnership with a Stellantis dealer.
