Not particularly as it's going to be coming from an electric gauge. Better than nothing but you can't beat a dedicated mechanical gauge for oil pressure.

Wow, this is a 0 - 100 psi gauge. I guess so long as the needle does not get out of calibration (that is, my hot pressures remain the same) it will work. I wonder what it will go to on the first zero F day.

Weird. My 1998 Trans Am (67,000 miles) only shows about 20 psi at hot idle, 40 psi at cold idle, and 50 or so psi at redline. I wonder why mine is so low?

Just variations between vehicles, bearings may be slightly tighter in one engine, may have different oil viscosity, relief valve spring tension may vary. Your pressure figures are fine though. What is the pressure at road speed, say 2000 rpm?

I think it rises to about 25-30 psi at 2000 cruising around.

Same here, the oil pressure gauge on my 2006 Dodge Ram with a Cummins is nothing more then a glorified idiot light. The sensor is just a switch that activates at 7psi. From there the computer just displays some made up value on the gauge that "appears normal"

This kind of stuff should be illegal, IMHO.

A tad low, but fully functional. Do you drive this car year round? I would run thicker oil in summer, maybe 10w40 or 15w40 but stick with a 30 wt in winter. That's what I did on my F150. Nothing to worry about though. If this is a hot rod, you want a high Zddp oil too.

98 will read a bit different than the 00. It is a bit more accurate than the 2000 due to difference in how it was read. I have an acutal mechanical gauge in mine. I put it in there when I installed the cam. You are fine.

Ok thanks. I heard the same thing about the temp gage. The 98 reads actual temp whereas the newer ones just jump to the middle and stay there. Makes sense that the oil is similar.

My LS1 is about the same (stock gauge with brand new switch/sensor) with the current fill/OCI in my sig, except;

NEVER less than 40-42 PSI at hot idle,

still at 50-55 PSI at 70 mph (~2100 revs, as I have 3.73s in it)

when the ambients are cold (60 PSI (closed bypass??)

and the hot WOT (up to 6300 revs) PSI will sometimes touch almost 80!
 
Whatever the bypass is set at, it will bypass at a higher pressure cold (thicker oil) than with the thinner hot oil. On mine it seems to be 85 hot and 95 or higher cold. Haven't tested below 33F which was 95 and then it ran up to 110 with RPMs. Pushing it for a 0-100 gauge.

2009 subaru forester. NA. I've sure i could do it, just never looked into it. Deciding where to locate the guage may be the most difficult part.

2001 Chevy S-10 2.2L 78k miles, electric gauge
Valvoline Nextgen Maxlife 5w30

20 psi hot idle

75-80 psi cold idle (30-40F)

40 psi 70 mph (warm)
 
This makes me wonder if some vehicles oil filters ever actually filter or just in by-pass the whole time .
