Replacing Rotors

A can of brake clean and a rag will clean the rotors up. You can wash them in a parts washer if you have one but you'll still need to use a little brake clean to get the parts washer scum off.

Even coming off a brake lathe rotors can be rough. I like to wire wheel them with an angle grinder to smooth them out. The brakes lose the spongy feel a lot sooner.

Just clean the cozmoline off with some brake clean and a rag. Otherwise your pads may become impregnated with the coating, and start to grab, lock up, and squeak.

I was reading the box that came with a set of rotors the other day. It said to clean the rotors before use in warm soapy water, then rinse and dry them before use.

It said not to use brake clean, which I have been using all my life.
