Question on replacing MTF.

How do I fill my transmission is the fill hole is on the side? IS there somekind of sideways funnel? Its on a 96 Accord 5sp.

Any ideas?

Get a fluid transfer pump. Any parts store or sears have them for about 10 bucks. You just put one hose in the bottle and the other in the fill hole and pump it in.

sweet! Thanks

I can do my diff. in my CR-V then too! Awesome!

I believe the MTF is dino 10w30.

Also, drain the old fluid through the drain plug below the fill plug.

I have the Helms service manual and it stats that you can use Dino 10W30 or 10W40 as a temp. solution but to use Honda MTF.

It seems easy to do. I figured I can save some green doing it myself.

Thanks guys! for the help!

I believe older Hondas were able to use simple 10W30 (or some grade of) engine oil. I'm not sure when but Honda did switch to an actual transmission fluid. I've read that Hondas are picky about the fluid and recommendations suggest to use only Honda's own tranny fluid (either auto or manual tranny fluid as required).
