Can anyone look up a "book" time for a repair ? Vehicle is a '22 Accord 2.0L turbo (Touring). Intercooler remove and replace.

It's my son's car and he hit a tire on the highway this morning. Besides some broken clips and a bent-up under shield, the intercooler did get some fins bent. Nothing leaking and no warning lights though. Looks like the part from Honda can be had for $190 (MSRP). His girlfriend is an engineer with Honda and gets discounts too 🤣

He has a $1000 deductible so while we initially thought it might be worthwhile looking at a claim, we're steering away from that now. If swapping the intercooler is an hour labor (by the book) plus some clip replacements, he'll probably go to a Honda specialist shop we've used. This guy will use customer-supplied parts as long as they're OEM (in fact, he almost never installs aftermarket parts unless there's no OEM parts available) and even if he doesn't, it should still come in well under his deductible.

Wow ! Between 2 and 2-1/2 hours ? I wouldn't never have guessed. Thanks for checking

If anyone can share any details, I'd appreciate it 😉

Remember, the shop can name their own price, no one says they have to charge book time.
Oh, I know. Was just trying to get an idea. Checking some videos to see what's involved 'cause it's an inlet and outlet clamped connections and (1) bolt.

It really is best to keep claims to big ones. I don’t think insurers see a difference between a $1000 and $50,000 claim. This claim would be considered a collision and so your son will be considered high risk. Straighten the fins you can and replace the other stuff. You’ll see bent fins over time from all kinds of random road debris.

He's taking it to the Honda specialist shop in a couple days for his opinion. I suspect that guy will tell him "run it" and leave it alone. I found some aftermarket intercoolers (not to buy/install) and their install guides suggest it can be done in an hour. Watching some videos, the real labor is removing the front bumper cover. Between the two of us, we've done that one other cars more than once. Even better, his girlfriend is a QA engineer at the Marysville OH assembly plant where his model was built and she's pulled these bumper covers off of this model A LOT.
