i removed the anti-drainback valve on my motorcraft 820s filters they work great!!!alot less restriction. your opinions my filters sit side ways on one car and threaded end facing up on the other.
boxcartommie22, you've stated some seriously outlandish things before in the oil filter section. I can't tell if you're a troll, or just off the reservation.
The only conceivable way to remove the ADBV from an oil filter would be to cut it open or rip the thing to shreds with needle nose pliers, guaranteeing bits of rubber/silicone inside the filter.

What am I missing here?
I think compressing the module towards the bottom (through the center well, perhaps) would allow you to push the thing off center enough to grip it with needle nose pliers.
Like I said, it would make an entertaining video.
Like the Joker said, "Never rub another man's rhubarb".
From all the filter designs I've seen, the only way to remove the ADBV would be to tear it up and through the holes in the filter's base. Some WIX/NAPA Gold filters have pretty large base holes. There is no way to get it to the center hole in the filter, as it is all sealed and closed up between the center core and base of the filter.
adbv leak anyways..i let my car sit for 4 days and removed the filter. there was still alot oil left in the filter and alot flowed out when i removed it..i simply took a blade and cut around the valve no mess and just pulled the valve out..i stopped using the stainless steel mesh fiters because i found out the bypass valve was set at 2 psi!!! so i decided to try to open up the 820 a bit more..seemed to me it would take alot to push the oil pass that valve let alone the media...i new you all would get a kick out of this.no noise on startups without valve.some noise with valve..as you all know i love to experiment!!

This actually means the ADBV was doing what it was designed to do!
