Cool, I didn't realize it was a law there. I was the beneficiary of that once; I'd been driving across the desert on old Rt. 66 in a rental car, and at one point I noticed there was a tire that was quite low. A few miles ahead was a tiny town. Essex, or Fenner, I think, on the eastern part of 66 not far from the Arizona border. I thought the chances of finding a working air hose was slim. Fortunately, the one gas station in town had a great working air pump and I was good to go. Here in Illinois one could drive all day without finding a pump that worked as well as that one did, probably wasting many quarters in the process of eliminating the ones that just spit and sputter.
