Remember to replace your home A/C filters

Our home A/C didn't feel as cold as usual this past weekend and the air coming out the vents was rather loud. I checked out the filters and they were FILTHY. Replaced them and everything is cold & quiet again.

If you let them go way too long you should check the fins inside the air handler to make sure they are not full of dirt and mold. Youtube can show you how to clean them.
When was the last time you put some bleach down the drain tube?

Good advice. I replace ours each year before summer begins. It's amazing how much they trap.

Which reminds me, it's probably about time to try clean the A/C condenser as well. If you're extra anal, you could get one of those fin straightening tools, remember to turn off the power first.

I change my HVAC filter once a year. It's a 20X25X5, so the 5" really makes it last longer than 1" thick ones.

I replace the furnace filter every three/four months. Write the date on the filter element and also on a piece of masking tape that you attach to the access cover. That way, you have a visible indication of how long the filter has been in service.

Down here we use the A/C year round and change the filter every 2 months.

I bought a 6pack on ebay for $25 20x20x1. One at my grocery store is $10. Their like middle pf the line quality wise. I replace mine every 3-4 months. Need to in this 100* weather. I think i shed alot too

I have had good luck with the fiberglass filters from ebay. I believe my return is undersized and it gives good airflow and ok filtration.

I have been buying the American Air Filter StrataDensity filters for a couple years now. $20 buys 12, I change them every 3-4 weeks.

I don't use bleach in the drain line, that eats up the glue in the PVC pipe. My contractor tells me to use white vinegar only. 1/2 cup down the line every 4-8 weeks works.

Cleaned mine in the house I bought back in 2013 a year after I moved in, and I swear, I doubled the output. Clean/replace regularly!!
