I posted a month ago? From a 4.5 lb chubby wobbly puppy to a 14 lb crazy ballistic little dog in a month. Amazing. And all the puppy stuff that was so aggravating with the last puppy just isn't as important now. She holds her own with the 7 yr old male already. Worst part is being in puppy solitary confinement until the shots are all done. Parvo Virus is really bad around here.

8 weeks and 12 weeks

She is a fourtunate little girl to have you as her guy. Very nice looking, healthy ,happy little mutt. You are a luck guy to have her in your life. Thank you kind sir for caring.

If the Parvo Virus is really a concern then you might ask the vet how long does it take for the animals immune system do develop immunity to it after the shot has been given to the animal.

I'm not a vet and I do not know the answer, but I am pretty sure the animal does not become immune immediately after the shot is given.

It's around a year or so. I think the real danger is contact with strange dogs/ animals, like at a dog park. I was just made aware of this and have had two puppies during my life and have never heard of a dog getting Parvo. I used to work at a pet food store and my mom was a dog groomer.

Good job on the solitary OP, but that must be a ton of work to exercise the puppy and socialize like that.

Dogs rule, cats drool...
Nice pup AZJeff...
We just got another addition to our pack last week.
Secret Agent Man, our resident Yorkie, Brinkley, our miniature Goldendoodle has been with us a little over a year, and now Mollie, our Bernedoodle, 6 months old and 50 pounds.

I think every vet does the immunization protocol differently, our guy is very cautious since he sees quite a few cases. The pup is housebound until after Jan 1 which makes socializing difficult. No contact with unknown dogs, can't be put on the ground in public areas. We take her out to see and hear as much as possible and carry her around Home Depot and Ace and anywhere dogs are allowed. There's always some risk, all we can do is minimize it.

JimPgh- 2 weeks after the last shot she's good to go finally. No way are we going to bend his rules after being warned. Parvo fatality in puppies is 80%.

Here she is helping chew a Kong and stealing a toy from Cooper. He's very tolerant.

Nice pup.

Shame about the parvo issue...wasn't a dog issue until they used cat kidneys to culture one of the vaccines, and forced the virus to cross species.

They're both full Oz Cattle Dogs, or, she's a Red Heeler and he's a Blue Heeler for obvious reasons. She'll probably get a bit darker red. This dog breed is one of the best things to come out of Australia as far as I'm concerned.

Well I have to disagree with you partly. Because I believe Australia has many "things" I like

I agree there's much to like about Australia and I'd love to visit there someday, but how many things uniquely Australian are in your daily life like these great dogs are in ours?

Maybe Mr. Shannow and others from the lands down under can take this thread sideways with some Aussie stuff that's in our daily US existence ?

I once owned a '69 El Camino and there are hills hoists around but not common.

No idea where one would even buy Vegemite.

Edit: for some reason I'm aware of a utensil called a splayd invented in Sydney. Combo knife/fork/spoon thing.
