refilling grease tubes

Hi,

I prefer to use the midget guns, as the bog ones always end up separating the grease and oil, even if pressure is removed - and it makes a big mess. I dont have enough greasable stuffto use it regularly, and so its best to just pack enough in a gun to use up, then refill... Ive not had an issue with grease separating from a bulk tub or big tube that was not previously used.

The problem is that most big and small grease tubes are cardboard, and as such, are quite flimsy. This is a problem if I plan to re-use a tube of some grease over and over again, filling it with a grease that does not come in such a small tube.

Is there any sort of mini grese tubem or other type of similar tube that can be hand-packed and will last? It seems that a plastic tube would be best.

Any suggestions on how to do it best would be most appreciated.

I've been reusing the same cardboard mini tube in my gun for over 30 years! Regardless, I too was thinking of finding a length of plastic tube with the same diameter to replace the cardboard tube.

It does not get floppy or really nasty? Even the ones that I see in the store have folds and whatnot developing in the outer cardboard layer.

I guess I just don't beat on it. That, and maybe the tubes were made better back then.

You really dont need a tube,,just pack the gun with grease in most modern guns,the rubber plunger will seal sides of gun tube,as I have a Lubrmatic,small gun and hand pack with Schaeffers 274 #2,,works fine,,,,,,BL
