Pennzoil 10w30 YB was on sale last time the '94 Camry needed an oil change, so for the first time since I inherited the vehicle I poured in something other than Havoline. Let me also say, I've run Havoline on all three of our vehicles continuously, except for one or two YB's that snuck in the stash a couple years ago. To my surprise, I checked the oil after 2000 miles and found it only down 1/8" from the full mark. With Havoline DS, I'm usually down near the add line with the same mileage. Pennzoil publishes it's NOACK volatility, but unfortunately Chevron does not so I can't compare the two products. The only other possibility is that the slightly higher viscosity of Pennzoil results in reduced consumption. This observation has me wondering if it is time to switch brands... at least on this vehicle.

Less consumption is usually better for your application. You don't want too much oil slipping past the rings and gumming up the engine IMO.

I would stick with what performs better for you, and that seems to be YB.

The Camry is the only vehicle that has consumption issues. It saw "infrequent" oil changes with the previous caretakers. I'm not complaining though, as it was free.

The Cherokee and Tacoma don't use a drop.

Changed PCV valve around 2 years ago, but did not help much. I'm not sure I need ARX, as the valve cover and crankcase were pretty clean when I changed the timing belt and oil pump gasket last year. Compression is actually a little high on all the cylinders, so I'm not sure ring blow-by is the cause.
