PS I admit I took a sniff of GC, but I didn't inhale!

Tonight, after much whining, finally got my wife to look at this site, and read all the posts (especially yours, Pscholte) about GC...trying to make her see why I also want to have the elixir of life.
She thinks we're huge oil-dorks, and wonders if big GC fans drink the stuff once in a while..-))
I said I'll ask you guys and let her know

Red line is worth the price for the peace of mind alone! You never know when you will run into conditions that would severely tax ordinary oil.
Good stuff, even for 8000 miles under tough conditions.

Spector my baseline has 4000 miles on it and is dino oil. The base line is 70% HWY and 30% city all trips over 50 miles. It is also from warm weather june unti now. What could I hope to glean from a sub 1500 mile UOA dureing freezeing temps. Her driveing cycle will be less then a city block to take boys to school in freezeing winter and the grocery store ever two weeks. I am sure a few trips to the docter scattered through out winter.

I want to see how the oils compare under simalar conditions. I am not looking to see how winter and dissimalr driveing cycles affect UOA. In a controlled test you want to try to minimize as many variables as possable.

I also do not want to waste $20 to do a UOA on an oil that has 1500 miles on it.

This also gives Redline no excuse not to perform. Seeing how the second sample is going to be the one used any cleaning effect should already have taken place. We also will not need to explain iron reading away because due to winter weather and poor driveing cycle.

Apples to Apples!

P.S. Seeing how I choose not to afford UOA every oil change my trend will still take place it will just take longer to develop.

Tell her we only take small sips of the green elixir along with all the other brews at the annual BITOG Oil Tasting Festival.

It might be best not to mention anything about our top secret midnight rituals when we "sacrifice" whole cases of GC to the Great Oil Goddess under a full moon!

We know that Redline is heavily ester based. It did not smell like gumi-bear like pscholte thinks GC smells like. It also did not smell like auto-rx. It smelled like any other oil to me. It still revs just as effortlessly as before. Temp last night was 25F and it started just fine! Weight of oil is 5W40.

Havoline, Castrol,M1,Redline,Shell,Pensoil,Tech2000,Amsoil........ I think it is one of the best noncustom blended oils that any one can buy to race with. I am testing it in my own daily driver to see how it does in daily driver application.

I drive my car very hard!! I drive it like I am raceing it in a rally event any time I am alone on a back road!My car hits redline daily!

I will say this. In Toyota's their is mounting evidence that Redline is the best choice for them. Terry Dyson has also recommended Redline for alot of Toyota's. I figure Terry see's thousands of UOA per year. He has also done alot of testing on Toyotas with the so called gelling issue. He has even used a personel vechile as a test mule. I respect his opion and combined with my amature raceing and street rod experince I feel confident in Redline.

I also know that esters are less prone to sludgeing, oxidation and nitration. The likely hood of sludge in an engine running Redline is preety slim. I feel that long term deposit control is even more important then slight difference in wear metal numbers between PAO and Ester based products.

P.S. Smokey Likes Polyo based oils as well!

One more thing! I plan to test Delvac-1 in this engine after I am done testing Redline. Both brands are going to be of 5W40. I am also going to try to get simalar driveing cycle and temps for testing.
