Redline Shockproof Gear Oil

Hi Guys,

I'm considering using Redline Shockproof Heavy Gear Oil instead of my usual Mobil 1 75W-90 gear oil in my '97 Landcruiser's F/R diffs and transfer case. Is this oil too thick for this application?

Shockproof comes in a 80W90, if I remember correctly. There are microscopic buffers to prevent metal to metal contact. It says nowhere that the viscocity is a 75W250. In fact, it says on their website that it protects better than a 75W250 would.

It's red and thick and smells like ****, but I had it in my Mustang's 8.8" fully built rear end.

I wouldn't use the Heavy Shockproof. I tried it on some bad info and I could feel the drivetrain get a tad bit sluggish. It's too thick. The superlight should be in the range of what you're looking for if your specs call for a 75w-80w/90. Or even the mid-ranged oil. I just used their regular 75w90 gear oil.
