Try it and get it out of your system. I did a similar thing about this time last year and gave Amsoil a try in my Tacoma and noticed no difference whatsoever. Engine sounded the same, gas mileage stayed average, and it started up easily as it had with the previous oil (PP). Needless to say, after 7500 miles, I just switched back to my Pennzoil Platinum and plan to stay there. The Amsoil changed color to a dark amber brown after 3k and stayed like that until the end, just as the Pennzoil always had.
High performance ester/PAO oils offer very marginal benefits for most street cars, they really start to shine in the high performance and track arenas where extreme temperatures and abuse is part of the game. Since most of us aren't bouncing off the rev-limiter through every gear in our daily drivers, the use of boutique oils is not necessary unless you just have to constantly feel that warm, fuzzy feeling.
Cheers!
