RedHead vs Blue Top Steering gear box?

Does anyone have any experience with these brands? My 02 F150 is in need of a new gear box since it’s started slowly developing a dead spot in the steering about 20k miles ago and the wandering is getting worse. The front end parts were replaced less than 20k miles ago.

Your truck doesn't have a steering box, it has a rack and pinion. Neither Blue Top nor Red Head rebuilds rack and pinions, only steering boxes.

Negative, his does. They got racks in 2004 with the new body style.

Whoops, you're right. I could have sworn they had rack and pinion, not sure why I thought that.

I thought they did, but then I remembered every time we look up an idler arm on them I have to measure the bolt holes. Rangers in that time had racks as well as Explorers.

04+ is rack and pinion. I may go with Blue Top because I’m hearing that they tend to have better QC than redhead
