Red line oil as sludge control.

Hi, here in sweden Auto RX arent common.
But i was thinking of using a bottle of redline motor oil
as a clean up additive in my normal oil.(syn 5-40 api sl)
I normally use a HDEO oil as top up oil abaut aquart in 500 miles
in my Mopar 5.9 v-8. The HDEO oil does do some solving inside as it quickly blackens the oil after it used. The outer route is to just use HDEO but its avail in only 15-40 and its cold here so..
By the way redline is expensive so i dont wanna use it as the lone oil..The engine has two uses a short commute (1-mile, with full power bursts if my fire pager sounds on a dead cold engine) and the other is towing my horses so it is not living in the easiest of worlds.

Sure throw in a quart of Redline. Cain't hurt anythang.

Have you noticed some issue? I see you are running Syn oil now.

It couldn't hurt. But if you're worried about cost, running the arx maint dose would be cheaper in the long run.

What's the sump capacity? I don't think one quart of Redline would have much effect for an initial clean up but used regularly it might help *keep* the engine cleaner.

Let me refrase some.
Here in sweden autoRX is inobtainible.
So my thought was to use the esterbase of the redline as a solvent.
Sure i can use RL all the time but it´s costly compare to the chain store type syn oil.
Question is : will it do any good that my regular oil doesent?
Or : would a HDEO oil do it better?

No, I don't think HDEO would be better. Redline would be better than that but I don't know how much. But in the past, we've had a lot of people "spike" their regular oil with a quart (or liter) of Redline for cleanliness.
