Greetings motor oil experts! Thank you for letting me on this board.

I mixed 5 bottles of Red Line and took a sample from that.
I have decided to service my car myself. With the money saved I can buy premium oil. $200 a year on motor oil is not such a bad deal.

Thanks for posting this. I've been curious about the latest formulation of the white bottle Redline so this is interesting info. Since you are new here, and obviously into boutiques, check out the VOA/UOAs on HPL's 0W-20 offerings.

Thank you. My mechanic recommended this to me.

My mechanic said to use Mobil 1 5W-30. But if I cared about my warranty then this Red Line 0W-20 is the next best oil.

Redline is certainly very good, albeit the most expensive that I am aware of. When I joined a couple of years ago, I just assumed Amsoil was the best out there (and it is among the best for sure), but HPL joined their ranks and has provided unprecedented access to the behind the scenes as well as info here on the forum.

Just curious, what vehicle is the Redline going in? What intervals do you do oil changes?

Jeep Wrangler, 8000 to 10,000 miles a year. But I want to change the oil every 6 months. I bought this case for $193. That's cheaper than going to the dealer or Jiffy Lube for two oil changes.

You'll get a lot of comments that at that interval, any off the shelf brand will work perfectly fine and that probably is true. The boutiques - Redline, Amsoil, HPL, etc - really excel for extended drain intervals. A member here has run HPL for over 30K miles per drain and the UOA came back fine. That's probably the high end of it for sure, but 10-20K intervals - engine dependent, of course - are typical here for boutiques.

Welcome to the site!

Can’t go wrong with Red Line. They make a quality product.

For your VOA’s/UOA’s I would recommend using Polaris/Horizon/Amsoil instead of Blackstone. They provide oxidation/nitration values, and are known to be more accurate (one example is Fuel%). The three I mentioned all use the same labs, and you can use the Horizon phone app for easy logging/tracking of samples. I get the Amsoil kits (not affiliated) from their website, and choose the non-postage paid option so I can ship them on the cheap with pirateship.

My dealer told me that Red Line is ok for my warranty as they have had customers who used Red Line in the past. But it has to be 0W-20 and has to be changed every 5000 miles or 6 months if I don't want any warranty issues.
I feel good now that this oil is good upto 20,000 miles. Wow!

If accurate, very good. Redline is still a PAO/POE base. The 0w20/0w30 are using a more modern LSPI friendly additive system. Should be a good oil. Keep in mind what looks good on paper doesn't always translate to real world. I'd get the virgin oxidation value though if you can to monitor oxidation. The oil will likely not shear much at all and only go up in viscosity.

IMO, RL's oils are probably as good or better than they've ever been being they now have access to P66's testing facility.

Thank you. How do I get the Virgin Oxidation Value?
