Red Light Cameras Miami-Dade&Broward Counties

Another reason to have good tires and brakes. And a good radar/laser detector, even if your driving habits are sedate.

IIRC, one guy who was falsely given a speeding ticket proved he was innocent because he had a video camera running with his GPS speed and date/time visible, proving he was not going as fast as the officer said he was.

What amazes me is that no one has actually addressed why they have red light cameras. Could it be a cash cow for local jurisdictions? Yes. Could it be that tons of people are running red lights? Yes. Is it probably a combination of the two? Very likely.

If people would step on the brake instead of the gas (within reason of course)when they saw a yellow light wouldn't that cure this problem?

Not really, croaks work for dishonest organization both public and private and the dumb people let them get away with it.

Therefore I always slam on my brake regardless of whether the cars behind me get into an accident or not, and that actually happens a couple of times (3rd car behind me hit the 2nd car behind me, but didn't hit me). I have my upgraded tires and brakes for a reason.

Some red light cameras are important (due to frequent red light related traffic deaths) and I know a few intersections here that have at least 3 fatal accidents that are now reduced/eliminated with red light camera with HUGE flash day and night.

The best solution is pay attention to the light and stop on time.

And also to drive a good distance back from the car ahead of you so you can stop using your brakes, not their bumper. My other suggestion on the matter likely wouldn't fly with the leadfoots on here...

+1 to those, my issue is slightly different... I was using an EZpass in one of my cars, and despite it working through ALL EZpass zones from NJ to DC, one spot in MD it did not register. I got a bill, and on top of my $2 toll, I was charged $3 for a "service fee"... Service?!? FOR WHAT? Im paying for them to keep their offices going to give me tickets? I thought that was why I paid the $2 toll and my monthly fee to have ezpass.

So anyway, I drive defensively, have never gotten a red light ticket or whatnot else, but after this, Im not going to give them a chance to get my license unless it is a cop who can read it...

You forgot about the crooked and dishonest ones. They work for the government, too.
