It could be cool if it's real, but there are a lot of unanswered questions. Is it just boiling liquid plastic and condensing oil out of it, or are there other inputs to the process? How much energy does it take to do that versus the value of the oil coming out? What is left in the machine after the oil is boiled out? How much refining does it take to turn the condensate into a usable product, and what waste products result from that?

Why don't we hear more about this if it is viable recycling process? It all come down to the money.

Like solar, wind, & ethanol, more energy goes in than is produced.

Taxpayers get to pay for it. Pay to pay.

Prove me wrong you have the IQ not I. As long as our taxes are needed to pay for it is a worthless source of energy.

You could just burn the stuff for the energy content. The problem is with the offgassing that's got some toxicity to it.

It would make much more sense to develop progressively or perpetually recyclable packaging. Have it end up as park benches or reef substrate ..whatever.

Once it's made into plastic, may as well keep it as such, and feed it to lower and lower parts of the food chain. A lot of my families clothing is made of recycled PET bottles.

So wouldn't the solution be making it little to no toxicity and just burn it afterward?

With long chain polymers, it's hard to control what happens as they combust.

The fabric filters at power stations produce plumes of cyanide gas if the catch fire...and plastics like PVC create hydrochloric acid.
