Recommendations for totaled car replacement

It looks like the problem is solved. Since there is not much difference in price between used with 50k miles and new, working on getting her into a new Corolla. Toyota website says there are 3 that can get at dealership. Will be looking into AAA buying service also. Then help her with the difference.

Love my Elantra, but if it needed to be replaced I would go for a Corolla. I just do not trust Hyundai. I am at 32k and on day #2 of retirement so I expect it to last many years to come. But with Hyundai, you never know.

I like the car too, but unless its like $5-8k with complete maintenance history, never been in the rust belt, and 1 adult owner, and you have a good private honda specialist nearby that isn't very busy most of the time, its probably not going to be as headache free as a new Elantra.... Also how well does it do on 87 octane?
Is yours a manual with a LSD? How much would you want for it?

Yeah, I guess I never think about rust as it is a non issue in my neck of the woods.
I agree, like any car of this vintage, find a good one.
If you are lucky enough to find a decent one, you could still put a grand into it if necessary and then just drive it.
Insurance and registration should be lower. The car will not suffer from depreciation like a newer car.

Our car is a 2006 AT with NAVI. There were very few options on these cars.

you are right the hyundai does not match those in warranty...
New Accent has 5year 60k/10year 100k warranty.

I didnt post what I would buy for myself I figured it was a Woman who has no car smarts since she was asking for help.
a new car with a long warranty is piece of mind. and they are available under msrp.

A used 4-5 year old one is still going for 75% of new.. not a deal..

I would 100% agree not to buy a 2 year old hyundai(or many others) with 30k miles for 2k off sticker price.. which is what the market is right now.

I still have an offer for my Jeep cherokee for 29500 3.5 years old and 51k miles on it.. Sticker was 38.5k but I paid 28.xxx~~ ish new
The market is suck.

Anyone suggesting a 10k corolla go find one... and that is if there isnt a line waiting to buy it.

in her shoes, id opt for another, perhaps a brand new Corolla again

if it is for me, i'd get a $3K sedan given the same situation

New Jetta.

She bought a 2019 VW. I am thinking Jetta. Had 25k miles, unlike a Corrola with twice the mileage. She said it rides well. I like the styling of the Jetta. I hope it relieable.
