I’m picking up a new to me Deere 2305 with about 1100 hours. Primary use will be for mowing my lawn and summer time acreage chores but it will be used as a back up snow removal machine and who knows what oddball work in the cold winter months. Looks like Deere recommends either 5w30 or 10w30 depending on climate. I’ll stick with 5w30. This is my very first diesel powered piece of machinery, so do I have to use a HDEO or will the same 5w30
I run in my car and old truck be sufficient? Excuse my ignorance on the subject!

Myself, I would go with the heaviest weight recommended for your climate and season. That would be 10w-30. I would only use 5w-30 if you plan on pushing snow.

I believe changing the oil when it's supposed to be done is more important than the actual oil used.

Do NOT use a traditional passenger car oil in your little Yanmar.

Per the manual, you can use any lube meeting API specs CI-4, CJ-4, and presumably CK-4. Also can use ACEA E3, E4, E5.
Plenty of choices there, so finding a 5w or 10w- 30 should be fairly easy.

Rotella is available in 5w-30 T6; CK and SN spec'd. Products are also available from Delvac, and Delo. And of course, Deere. Many others.

Without knowing what the car/truck applications are, it's impossible to say if you could find one oil for all your engines or not. If your car/truck specs SP because of DI, you'll need to be careful; you may have to use two different lubes. If your car/truck specs older stuff, you may be able to get away with using one for all.

14 equinox with a 2.4l and an old beater 91 Chevy k1500. I’m not really interested in changing the car and truck to match the tractor, more so just use what I have on hand for the tractor. Sounds like my best bet is to pick up the delvac that’s locally on sale
