Hi Guys, want to install a gauge on my dash for the Nissan Maxima. Can someone recommend me good quality brands, or will any cheap china one work fine.

Also do I put a T junction or something where the idiot sender gauge fitting is, or just remove the idiot light alltogether (but then it will be permanently ON right?).

What's the basic setup for me to install it on this Japanese car - will the fittings be metric therefore I need a metric gauge?

If the idiot light sender connector is just left hanging it will simply never light. Single wire ones ground through the sensor.

I would not use a "T" as the vibration is not good for them and it's more stuff to seal up right.

Oddly my car has an extra tapped, plugged hole in the oil galley next to the idiot sensor.

Going for an elecric or a mechanical gauge? I wouldn't really like the idea of running engine oil up into my cab just in the event something might wear through or vibrate loose. My electric gauge might read a little low though until my alternator starts doing its job and my voltmeter kicks up.
